montenidoli wines at extra bar

we will be pouring three wines from montenidoli in honor of the wine maker Elisabetta Fagiouli who will be stopping by to talk about the wines.  Montenidoli is in the Chianti Senesi region of Tuscany and produces an outstanding vernaccia di san gimignano as well as one of my favorite Italian roses made with a single varietal; canaiolo.  Elisabetta has been farming organically since the sixties and she once told me that the way she made her wines was to listen to the grapes  "the grapes tell me what to do with them". we will be serving tuscan appetizers to go with the wines all night.  Elisabetta is a fascinating wine maker with a fierce point of view.  It is always a pleasure to engage and talk wine with her.
